Letting Go and Learning to Release Many of us are in a state of flux right now. We are reshaping and remolding ourselves anew. It can be both freeing and scary, both at the same time. In the process of recreating ourselves, it's important to embrace and cherish what brought us to where we are today. There were many teachers in the past that brought us new understanding. Some of them were gentle and kind. Yet some of them were a bit more challenging. These experiences serve as stepping stones on our new path. Along with these experiences, come memories and emotions that may be stored in our bodies. We take a moment right now to think of the different experiences we've encountered in the last year and some of the events or people that we perceived as challenging. Right now we have an opportunity to release this past. If you feel moved to, take this time to write one or two experiences down on a piece of paper. Take this moment with me right now and think of someone or an event on your list. This person may even be your perception of yourself. Close your eyes, think of the experience or person. Then ask yourself where this memory may be stored in your body and wait in the silence. See if you get an answer. If not, imagine you did and pick a random spot. Place your hand on this spot along with me, relax, focus on your breath, and close your eyes. Ask in this moment to feel that experience. Once you have delved into it, ask Spirit for the willingness to forgive that person or that situation. Then breath deeply, keeping your hands on the spot and call on the Spirit within to release it for you. Imagine Spirit sending it down into the earth or up into the sky. Then take another deep breath and fill in that space with wonderful green, warm light and a new lighter emotion of joy, peace, happiness or the excitement of new beginnings. If this felt good, continue on to the next experience or the next person on your list with the same process. When you have finished, you can say an affirmation of gratitude along with me: "Thank you Great Spirit for helping me to release this and move into the fullness of myself." Then rip up your paper into small pieces and throw it into the trash, knowing in all clarity, that this is done. |
